Commission Unveiling – Portrait of Dr. Anne Johnstone
Unveiled today was the commissioned portrait of Dr. Anne Johnstone, outgoing principal of Ravenswood School For Girls.
Dr. Anne Johnstone is departing from her tenure as the tenth principal at Ravenswood School For Girls’. She was farewelled at a ceremony where her commissioned portrait, Portrait of Dr. Anne Johnstone (2025), painted by artist Tim Owers, was presented to the school.
“It has been an honour to complete this painting of Anne. She is deeply respected and admired across so many realms, including education, positive psychology, as well as Visual Arts – being a key proponent of the Ravenswood Art Prize for Women,” says Tim.
“When Dr. Johnstone and I first sat down to discuss the portrait, our vision and hope for the portrait was identical. We both envisaged her situated within the school grounds, surrounded by a flourishing garden in the afternoon sun. This scene, full of life and warmth, was to be representative of the environment that she has sought to foster during her time, but it also serves as a reflection of her own character.”
The work will be on permanent display in the school from July 2025.
